Working in the Security industry i know the importance of been safe and what to avoid to be safe but i have had my fair share of unexpected moments that i myself would never dream of it happening to me. We all sometimes forget the rules of staying safe and in a split second you are the target of been a victim. It can be both emotionally disturbing and physically draining when something happens and you wonder "why me", " what did i do to deserve this" and especially when it takes place in your home and as a male you feel like you did not do enough to protect your family, so many questions and no answers to these crimes. We cannot blame ourselves for what these criminals do, we can take all the safety measures possible but if you targetted it becomes harder to protect yourself alone and that is why we have security around to help those unfortunate. I will in the future try and keep you updated on what is going on and hopefully with what you read here you can be more aware. Been Aware is the key to staying safe and alive. Look around you and stay focused. Little things that you notice can save you and your families life. As mentioned before you have your unexpected moments that you least expect, like a smash and grab. Yes, we all know about the "hot spots" and our unwelcomed visitors with their spark plug. Just a second of not focusing and your life becomes shattered like the window. An unpleasant experience and definitely unnecessary if you just rolled your window down a half a cm and put your back in the boot. In my rushed state after dropping my daughter off at her friends i lost focus because she had rolled the window up completely and left my bag on the floor of the passenger side and i did not check and i was the victim of a smash and grab. The criminal had a few blows to his head but he was determined that he was going to retrieve what he had in his grip even though he left his trail of blood and his unpleasant odour in my car. Such a quick moment, like a flash of lightening and its over. I felt i could have done more. Had the same thoughts of, "if only i held onto him longer and kept my foot on the petrol and rammed him into the barriers", "that would have taught him a lesson or two and he would not do it again, and especially target women alone". I stopped and climbed out of the car, ready to run after him and beat him up but if i did that would i have got back to no car by the robot? Would i have got back alive? The decision was to drive straight to the police station to have them take finger prints if any, and to open up a case of all your lost possession.
Thoughts racing through our heads and the heart beating faster and that rush through our veins, but even though you experiencing all of that you still say "thank you God" that you alive and can go home to your family. This is part of our lives and we have to accept it. We have to be aware of what is around us and once again focus on this little things that can mean big things. We can all stay safe and we can all learn that its not your fault that these things happen. You are just another victim to the crime that is taking place in this world. A statistic, a doc number of so many unsolved cases. I hope that i can in the future help you with a few things that you can use to protect yourselves and your family against the crime around you.
Stay safe and stay focused!!
