Zain wins ‘TelecomFinance Deal of the Year’ award for Africa assets sale to Bharti Airtel

Zain has won the ‘TelecomFinance Middle East and Africa Deal of the Year award’ for the sale of its Africa assets to Bharti Airtel in June, 2010 for US$10.7 billion.
 
The Zain / Bharti Airtel deal was shortlisted among six other deals in the  Middle East & Africa region which is voted on by an independent (i.e., non-bank, non-operator) panel of judges.

OTH Lenders Support Further Financial Flexibility

Orascom Telecom Holding S.A.E. Bharti airtel and IBM Finalize Agreement to Transform Mobile Communications in Africa

IBM  and Bharti airtel today announced the completion of contract negotiations for technology services spanning 16 African countries. As part of the 10-year agreement signed in December 2010, IBM will deploy and manage the information technology (IT) infrastructure and applications to support airtel's goal of providing affordable and innovative mobile services throughout Africa, the world's fastest growing mobile market.

IFC Invests in Helios Towers Africa to Expand Access to Telecommunications

IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, today announced a $25 million equity investment in Helios Towers Africa Limited (HTA) to help the company build and maintain mobile phone towers in several countries across sub-Saharan Africa, increasing mobile phone coverage and reducing communication costs in the region.

Qtel finalises partnership in Tunisiana

Princesse Holding Group and Qatar Telecom (Qtel) announced today the finalisation of their partnership in Tunisiana which sees Princesse Holding taking up 25% of Tunisiana’s shares with National Mobile Telecommunications Company K.S.C.
